    Our Mission

Southeastern Chess is a regional initiative operating under the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO), a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educational and community enrichment.

Our mission is to grow chess across the Southeastern United States by organizing complementary events that strengthen and support existing chess programs. We are committed to creating welcoming, high-quality playing environments for players of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
    — Proverbs 27:17

A cornerstone of our work is the SE Women and Girls Chess Championships Task Force, a coalition that secured a $3,500 grant from the U.S. Chess Federation to establish an annual regional championship for women and girls.

    Founding partners:

    • Parent Teacher Student Organization
    • Atlanta Chinese Christian Church (Tucker)
    • Chess Nation
    • North Atlanta Chess Club

Through these initiatives, Southeastern Chess seeks to expand access, encourage participation, and elevate chess as a tool for education, character development, and community throughout the Southeast.
